My Dropshipping Experience

Dropshipping is a modern business model that has gained significant popularity in recent years. It offers entrepreneurs an opportunity to start an online retail business without the need for upfront inventory or substantial capital investment. In a traditional retail model, businesses purchase products in bulk from manufacturers or wholesalers and store them in warehouses until they are sold. However, dropshipping eliminates the need for inventory storage. This is where I came in as a Virtual Assistant in the dropshipping industry.
Order Processor
When I entered the industry as a VA, I was assigned to become an order processor. I was trained in the basics of the task and learned some of the crucial procedures. The task was fairly easy, especially when the store you will be handling is a new one. But when you’re an order processor, you need to be very cautious in processing the incoming orders and all the details should be considered. A slight difference in the ordered product could potentially cause ripples of problems in the future.
Some common problems that order processors face from customers are:
- Irrelevant Size
- Different Color
- Not the Same Material
- Order Fulfillment Delays
- Inventory Issues
Product research involves the use of a variety of tools that will help streamline the research process. Some of the tools that I use were Keepa, Helium 10s Blackbox, Grabley, Online Seller Addon, The Camelizer, SellerAMP, and others. Such tools provide valuable insight into products that gives you crucial information on your product selection which makes it easier and saves you valuable time.
Customer Service Representative
We all know that customers are the heart and fuel of any store and taking good care of our customers is the best way to become successful. The needs of customers must always be given importance, but let’s face it some customers are just too much to handle. Regardless of the reason, it’s still very important that we make sure every customer will be satisfied at the end of the day.
Answering customer queries and issues should be delivered appropriately. To do this, I have a particular reply format that I made that ensures every word or phrase guarantees positive results without compromising the reputation of the business.
I have enjoyed working as a virtual assistant in the dropshipping industry. It has been a challenging but rewarding experience. I have learned a lot about dropshipping, product research, and customer service. I have also had the opportunity to work with some great clients.
